<image:caption>To Mammo, Through your body, mind and soul, you spoke to the moon in tongues, drew her from a thin line until she floated full and white in the sky. How grand you are, Mother, filling us with the contents of your womb, sustaining our humanity. Mother, I feel you everywhere, in the trees that birthed the seasons one after the other, in the night that birthed day and then itself, in who I was, am and always will be. Love, K</image:caption>

<image:title>ABOUT</image:title>
<image:caption>Kesha’s award winning collection of fictional stories, No God Like the Mother focuses on the lives and realities of women who have been tasked with holding up the sky, all while the world whispers “you’re doing it wrong”. It has been described as “hauntingly beautiful”, “compelling”, and the writing as “lyrical” and “rich”. This is perhaps unsurprising, as Kesha tackles the book’s difficult subject matter with an unflinching yet heartfelt touch. She has also earned a number of prestigious awards for other essays and stories she has written over the years, including The Phoenix Literary Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award for Short Fiction in both 2011 and 2012. Her writing has been published in several online and print collections, and in such publications as Multicultural Familia magazine, the Alchemy literary magazine, and twice in Beyond Black & White magazine. Kesha is committed to fighting for social justice, and her dedication to this cause can be seen in everything she does. She previously worked in social services and is a vocal advocate for immigrants and refugees as she champions equality and education while opposing the poverty that plagues humanity. But her humanitarian mission does not stop there. Kesha Ajose-Fisher is dedicated to amplifying the voices of some of the most vulnerable members of our society. She knows that many of life’s burdens fall heaviest on the shoulders of women, and she seeks to expose this reality in her writing. Her award winning collection of fictional short stories, No God Like the Mother, delves deep into the lives of women who are expected to keep the world turning, all while bearing the brunt of its hardships. She knows that in order to really push for progress in this world, you have to focus your efforts on the women who need it most. That’s why Kesha also speaks out for immigrants and refugees, and seeks to advocate for equality and education in all she does. Kesha Ajose Fisher was born in Chicago and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. She now lives in Oregon with her family and can be found writing, reading, cooking for friends and family, traveling, raising her teenagers, cuddling with her puppy, Oscar, and fighting for social justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. In her free time, she squeezes in a hike through the beautiful green of the Pacific Northwest.</image:caption>
